We have been traveling with the help of Jody for more than 7 years. My husband and I are not trip planning people. We leave that to the professionals and with Jody you are in great hands. Jody is wonderful! She has taken the hassle out of the planning and made things so simple. We were referred to her by family and we have since recommended her to all our friends. Our friends have referred her to their friends. That says a lot about the great job Jody does.

Frequently Asked Questions about Mexico Travel

  • Yes, for most popular tourist destinations. Cancun, Cabo, Mexico City, Mérida, and Oaxaca are all operating normally with Level 1 or Level 2 advisories. The February 2026 events were concentrated in western and central Mexico and resolved within days. Choose your destination carefully and follow standard safety precautions.

  • Yes. Cancun holds a Level 2 advisory, the same as France and the UK. The tourist zones were not targeted during the February 2026 events, and the U.S. Embassy confirmed Quintana Roo returned to normal within 24 hours.

  • Yes. Baja California Sur was completely unaffected by the February events and was never included in the U.S. Embassy's security alerts. Cabo is currently rated the safest destination in Mexico by active travelers.

  • Puerto Vallarta is operational and stabilizing, but it sits in Jalisco, a Level 3 state that was the epicenter of the February 2026 events. Flights have resumed and hotels are open, but travelers should monitor State Department guidance closely before booking.

  • Yes. Mexico City holds a Level 2 advisory and its tourist neighborhoods were not affected by the February unrest. Standard big-city precautions apply — use ride-sharing apps, stay aware of your surroundings, and stick to well-known neighborhoods like Roma, Condesa, and Polanco.

  • Yes, for the most part. Tulum holds a Level 2 advisory and was unaffected by the February events. There is a cartel presence focused on extorting local businesses, not tourists, but Tulum's nightlife scene has seen some drug-related incidents. Stick to tourist zones after dark.

  • No. Not a single state-level advisory rating changed. The embassy issued temporary shelter-in-place alerts that were lifted by February 25. All underlying Level 1 through Level 4 ratings remained the same.
